Supernatural, The Animation

BEEN REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE QUALITY OF ANIME STORYLINES IN THE LAST DECADE? MAYBE THIS'LL LIGHT THAT DWINDLING FLAME.

This is real ladies and gentlemen. Our boys, Jensen and Jared, even confirmed the project themselves while at Rising Con Spain 2010.

The characters are being designed to look like their actors. Though it seems like all other character will be handled differently(in appearance apparently) for a fresh touch.
The characters will be voiced by the same Voice-Actors who do the voice-overs for the live-action show in Japan.

Well, this could either go really good or really bad. I'm both intrigued and a bit afraid at the idea of them toying with other characters in appearance, though I do understand; both why they're doing it and why I'm feeling a little afraid.

I personally, as it is for most others, am ingrained with these characters; that my love for what they are blinds me from seeing the potential of what they could be. This tends to be the case with people who are accustom to 'original' version of songs and movies and television shows. They are so comfortable and ingrained with how they were that they can't let go of that and see the potential of the new.

I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of this little project. How often to American television series get turned into an Anime? No, I'm being serious. It's an actual question that I am honestly interested in knowing the answer to if anyone knows it.

Supernatural Season Six Description

I know I've been away for awhile and I plan to find some way to make it up to you- perhaps I'll post a bunch of interviews and things from the SPN Magazines(with proper crediting of course)- but I bring happy postings, if it's been a description of the up coming season of Supernatural you've been looking for.

From our peeps at the CW and The Futon Critic.

SUPERNATURAL SEASON 6 DESCRIPTION:

Returning for its sixth season, this haunting series follows Sam and Dean Winchester, two brothers bound by tragedy and blood to their dangerous, other-worldly mission. This past season, Dean and Sam faced their toughest foe yet: the Devil himself. As the Apocalypse raged on around them, the brothers, aided only by a dwindling band of fellow hunters and rebel angel Castiel, sought a way to stop Lucifer and save the planet. Ultimately, they discovered a way to force Lucifer back into Hell and end the Apocalypse - but at tremendous cost: Sam’s life. Season six will be a season of mystery and shadow. Heaven and Hell have been left in complete disarray since the apocalyptic events of season five. And now, monsters, angels and demons roam across a lawless and chaotic landscape. And so Dean Winchester, who has retired from hunting and sworn never to return, finds himself being pulled back into his old life - pulled back by none other than Sam Winchester, who has escaped from Hell. The two reunite to beat back the rising tide of creatures and demon-spawn, but they quickly realize that neither are who they used to be, their relationship isn’t what it used to be, and that nothing is what it seems.
The series stars Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester, Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester and Misha Collins as Castiel.

SUPERNATURAL is from Warner Bros. Television in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision, with executive producers McG (”Nikita,” “Charlie’s Angels,” “The O.C.”), Eric Kripke (”Boogeyman”), Robert Singer (”Midnight Caller”), Sera Gamble, Ben Edlund and Phil Sgriccia.

Things You May Not Have Known About Supernatural

-Mark Sheppard(Crowley) broke the colt while filming a scene for 'Abandon all Hope'(5x10).
-In the episodes 'Bugs'(1x8) they used hundreds of live bees for the scene in the attic but they didn't show up on camera so they ended up digitally applying the bees anyway.
- While filming the episode 'Bugs' during the takes involving the bees, Kim showed up wearing his usually clothes while the rest of the crew wore protective suits saying "If you guys are gonna be in here, I'm gonna be in here with you."
- The episode 'Hook Man'(1x7) was actually supposed to be episode three, after 'Wendigo', revealing the shotguns with rock salt and the idea of being attached to an object and not just remains, however, because of the inexperience of the director in the given genre, the ended up moving the episode back and eventually had to do re-shooting.
-Lori Sorenson's hair is different lengths at different parts of the episode 'Hook Man' because of re-shooting.
- In the episode 'In My Time of Dying'(2x1) when John is in the hospital basement with the Yellow Eyed Demon, they had sandbags line the floor so that Fredric Lehne(Lane) could feel out with his feet the direction he needed to go because he couldn't see with the Yellow Contacts. (From the DVD commentary)
- The boys' body guard Clif Kosterman plays Tiny in the episode Folsom Prison Blues(2x19).
- In the episode 'Changing Channels'(5x8) when Castiel enters the boys motel room the boys bags are under the window. When Castiel is slammed into the wall the bags are gone, however, are once again in the scene when the Trickster/Gabriel comes into the room.
- In the episode 'Hell House'(1x17) during the boys second encounter in the Morton house with Ed and Harry after they shoot Mordechai Murdoch then, as the camera is circling around Ed and Harry you can see the shoulder of one of the crew men in front of the camera.

Just to Clarify

Just To Clarify
A Skeptic Fan

I just want to clarify.
I don't think I've been entirely clear and I just need to keep it simplistic. It's not that I think a sixth season is impossible. It's very plausible to come up with any number of storylines for a sixth season and I have read a few that I like. I'm particularly fond of the rebuilding of the boys relationship from the broken, shattered pieces it's become. Other suggestions I've read just aren't realistic such as the 'Simpler Times' storyline. Things aren't going to be simple for them, not anytime soon. They are broken boys.

Now, even though I have agreed that there is always the potential to create a sixth season, that doesn't necessarily mean I like the idea. My biggest draw to the series was always the story line, of which Sam and Dean's relationship plays heavily into. My question is, where does the series go after they have built it up again if they can?

Also, my greatest concern and everything that I've been arguing for is how it will effect the story told in the previous seasons. Sure season six will be a story of its own, but you can't simply ignore the first five seasons to do that. They're going to impact each other. Everyone has this kind of blind faith in Kripke's team, but this is a slippery slope to climb with everything that has happened. I just don't want to see the integrity of the previous story hurt. And when I read some people's response it's like that isn't even taken into consideration and that kind of... annoys me because Kripke has put so much time and effort into his original story. To suddenly have to be change it to adapt it for another season. It feels like it's taking away from that first story.

I'd love to keep watching the boys, but not at the cost of the storyline.

Things You May Not Have Known About Supernatural

Things You May Not Have Known About Supernatural

Every now and again I come across a thing or two I didn't know about the boys or the show and I know I'm not the only one. So I'm going to give you some facts you may not have known so you can dazzel your Supernatural friends the next time you're watching an episode and can whip out a fact or two.

-Jensen Ackles was originally up for playing Sam
-Kripke's original idea was about a reporter who traveled the country covering urban legends.
-Kripke's wife suggested Jared Padalecki because she was a big fan of Gilmore Girls.
-Jensen and Jared were the only two considered for the roles of Dean and Sam.
-Kripke deliberately specified the music in the scripts.
-John was originally supposed to be the one on the ceiling at the end of the Pilot
-Jessica was supposed to be a demon
- Sam originally was supposed to think Dean was a serial killer and killed their father.
-The intended ending for the season one finale was the Impala doing a 'barrel roll' in the air after the truck smashed into it, but the Impala did not come off the track it was on and instead was plowed forward.
The truck driver momentarily lost control of the truck but when he eventually regained control he steered the truck and the Impala into a field camera causing the shot to go black. Kim and Eric liked this so much that they made this the ending.
-During the filming of 'Route 666' the trucks kept getting stuck in the mud, at one point Jared and Jensen were out in the mud themselves pushing the truck which eventually ended in a mud fight.
-Jensen sings relatively well so Kripke must specify in scripts that Jensen sing off-key.

Just a few to get you started. I'll try and give you between 10 and 20 every time.

My Supernatural Soundtrack cont'd

My Supernatural Soundtrack
Renegade

Normally when it comes to MY Supernatural soundtrack I don't add too many songs from the series' unofficial soundtrack. But occasionally there are those songs that just stand out and embody the series or the boys. Next to 'Carry On Wayward Son' by Kansas I'd have to say one of my favorite songs used in the show was 'Renegade' by Styx. I think it is one of the best song usages and musical placements in the show.

 "Renegade" - Styx
Oh momma I'm in fear for my life
from the long arm of the law
Lawman has put an end to my running
and I'm so far from my home

Oh momma I can hear you a'crying
you're so scared and all alone
Hangman is comin' down from the gallows
and I don't have very long

The jig is up the news is out
they've finally found me
The renegade who had it made
retrieved for a bounty
Never more to go astray
This will be the end today
of the wanted man

Oh momma I've been years on the lam
And had a high price on my head
Lawman said get him dead or alive
Now it's for sure he'll see me dead

Dear momma I can hear you a'crying
You're so scared and all alone
Hangman is coming down from the gallows
And I don't have very long

The jig is up, the news is out
They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
Retrieved for a bounty

Never more to go astray
The judge will have revenge today
On the wanted man

Oh Momma, I'm in fear for my life
from the long arm of the law
Hangman is coming down from the gallows
And I don't have very long

The jig is up, the news is out
They finally found me
The renegade who had it made
Retrieved for a bounty

Never more to go astray
This'll be the end today
Of the wanted man
the wanted man

and i don't wanna go,
oh no
don't let 'em take me
no no
 ==============================
I don't really have too much to say other than the song embodies the boys. I always get a sense of Dean especially from this song because he's really the one the Feds are always after. Sam is only secondary.

My Supernatural Soundtrack Cont'd

My Supernatural Soundtrack
Breathe

Now this one doesn't exactly scream "I'll be in the next episode of Supernatural", but here is a favorite of mine. I loved it the minute I heard it a while ago, but when I applied SPN to it, i realized it can kind of fit. Music is about interpretation, right?

"Breathe(2 A.M.)" - Anna Nalick

2 AM and she calls me 'cause I'm still awake,
"Can you help me unravel my latest mistake?,
I don't love him. Winter just wasn't my season"
Yeah we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes
Like they have any right at all to criticize,
Hypocrites. You're all here for the very same reason

'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, girl.
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe... just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe

May he turned 21 on the base at Fort Bliss
"Just a day" he said down to the flask in his fist,
"Ain't been sober, since maybe October of last year."
Here in town you can tell he's been down for a while,
But, my God, it's so beautiful when the boy smiles,
Wanna hold him. Maybe I'll just sing about it.

Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable,
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table.
No one can find the rewind button, boys,
So cradle your head in your hands,
And breathe... just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe

There's a light at each end of this tunnel,
You shout 'cause you're just as far in as you'll ever be out
And these mistakes you've made, you'll just make them again
If you only try turning around.

2 AM and I'm still awake, writing a song
If I get it all down on paper, it's no longer inside of me,
Threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud
And I know that you'll use them, however you want to

But you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable,
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button now
Sing it if you understand.
and breathe, just breathe
woah breathe, just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe,
Oh breathe, just breathe.
===========================

There are a few parts that resonate. The refrain:

Cause you can't jump the track
We're like cars on a cable
and life's like an hourglass glued to the table,
No one can find the rewind button boys
So just cradle your head in your hands.
And breathe, just breathe, whoa breathe just breathe

---

And this part reminds me of a particular scene in 5x05[Fallen Idol]:
Dean: So we just go back to the way we were before?
Sam: No because we were never that way before. Before didn't work. How do you think we got here?

These line from the song just embody that scene:

There's a light at each end of this tunnel
you shout cause you're just as far in as you'll ever be out
And these mistakes you've made
You'll just make them again if you'll only try turnin' around

---
This part here makes me think of Dean, particularly after he comes back from Hell in the fourth season and he always seems to have a bottle or something:

May he turned 21 on the base at Fort Bliss
"Just a day" he said down to the flask in his fist,
"Ain't been sober, since maybe October of last year."
Here in town you can tell he's been down for a while,
But, my God, it's so beautiful when the boy smiles,
Wanna hold him. Maybe I'll just sing about it.

Not what it means, but what it makes me think of.
--------------------
I get the feeling from the lyrics that the song is about not being able to go back and fix our mistakes and the best we can do is look back on them, reflect, and try to do better the next time. To not make the same mistakes, I guess.

simple gestures.

As I was standing at the bus stop today after class waiting to go to work, I watched a man stop mid conversation and cross a line of traffic to shake a soldier's hand on the other side of the street. Without realizing it, I was smiling.

Oh Captain, My Captain

Season Six Ship Sets Sail
Is Kripke still our Captain

There is a big fluster amongst fans: Is Kripke still sailing this Supernatural ship? Well we haven't received any confirmation yet, but the word around the ship yard is that our Skipper is stepping down and handing the wheel over to Executive Producer Sera Gamble who has been with this ship since it set sail in 2005.

Now, now my distressed little sailors let's all keep our hats on. Our Captain may be stepping down, but he's not stepping off.  A little insight from our friend Ausiello over at EW says that even though our once proud Captain has stepped aside he will still be an acting Lieutenant on this rig and have a continually active role in the making of Supernatural, just not nearly as big as before.

According to a article posted on Variety.com back in June of 08 Kirpke signed an exclusive 'pact' under which he would continue to develop projects for Warner Bros. which may have some part in Kirpke's stepping down, as mentioned by Ausiello, "Kripke is said to be finalizing a new deal with Warner Bros. that will feature a big development component. In other words, his diminished role on Supernatural will free him up to create another awesome show."

What does the future hold for our Creator, Captain and over all Master of all things Supernatural? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

My Supernatural Soundtrack Cont'd

My Supernatural Soundtrack
Still Here
Now you have to understand, I am an ex-Sam-girl. So a lot of time I still lean heavily towards Sam so you'll have to forgive me when I occasionally do a Sam heavy post. It's kind of like being a junky. When I watch a Sam Heavy episode I'm pretty under the influence, haha.

This next song, and probably the one after, will be songs that remind me of Sam. And you may read the lyrics and think "Hey! This is clearly more like Dean!" then let me know. We will discuss. Or maybe you want to share a song that you feel may remind you of Sam. or Dean. Or Supernatural in general. I'm all ears.

Some of these don't scream Supernatural but it's definitely the kind of music that Sam would listen too.

================
If you've ever seen the movie Treasure Planet you may recognize this song. It's Jim's Theme "I'm Still Here" and every time I hear it I think of Sam even when SPN isn't or hasn't been on my mind.

"I'm Still Here(Jim's Theme)" - John Rzeznik

I am a question to the world,
Not an answer to be heard.
All a moment that's held in your arms.
And what do you think you'd ever say?
I won't listen anyway…
You don't know me,
And I’ll never be what you want me to be.

And what do you think you'd understand?
I'm a boy, no, I'm a man..
You can take me and throw me away.
And how can you learn what's never shown?
Yeah, you stand here on your own.
They don't know me 'cause I'm not here.

And I want a moment to be real,
Wanna touch things I don't feel,
Wanna hold on and feel I belong.
And how can the world want me to change,
They’re the ones that stay the same.
The don’t know me,
'Cause I’m not here.

And you see the things they never see
All you wanted, I could be
Now you know me, and I'm not afraid
And I wanna tell you who I am
Can you help me be a man?
They can't break me
As long as I know who I am

And I want a moment to be real,
Wanna touch things I don't feel,
Wanna hold on and feel I belong.
And how can the world want me to change,
They’re the ones that stay the same.
They can’t see me,
But I’m still here.

They can’t tell me who to be,
‘Cause I’m not what they see.
And the world is still sleepin’,
While I keep on dreamin’ for me.
And their words are just whispers
And lies that I’ll never believe.

And I want a moment to be real,
Wanna touch things I don't feel,
Wanna hold on and feel I belong.
And how can they say I never change
They’re the ones that stay the same.
I’m the one now,
‘Cause I’m still here.

I’m the one,
‘Cause I’m still here.
I’m still here.
I’m still here.
I’m still here.
==================

There are two parts in particular that make me think of Sam in this song

And what do you think you'd ever say
I won't listen anyway
You don't know me
And I'll never be what you want
Me to be

If this isn't a perfect description of Sam and John's relationship I don't know what is. John wants Sam to be this strong hunter, to join the 'family business', or that's the way John is portrayed. He wants Sam to be with the family.

------

And I want a moment to be real
Want to touch things I don't feel
Wanna hold on and feel I belong

Isn't this really all Sam wants? He wants to belong somewhere. All his life he wants to be normal. He wants to have friends. He doesn't want to be the freak or the new kid anymore. He just wants to belong. This part, it just screams Sam every time I hear it.

---------

I think the song is pretty self explanatory, or maybe that's just me. But I definitely get the feeling of Sam from this song.

A Skeptic Fan

A Skeptic Fan
Hmm

Now that the Sixth Season has been confirmed by The CW and the parties are in full swing, I have to voice a few doubts and concerns regarding a sixth season. Kripke has worked on a five year plan, ending the series with the fifth season, a big bang, the Apocalypse. This was the BIG FINALE. So if he's been working on this five year plan, what could he possibly have in store for a sixth season, for anything that could top the finale of the fifth or at least not hurt the integrity of the story that's already been told? Right off the bat we know that neither Sam or Dean are going to die in the fifth season finale, not anymore anyway if there is a sixth season, and even if they do, they won't remain dead for too long. Kripke has already stated in an interview that there is no Supernatural without Sam and Dean. They're the driving force, and if there are no Winchesters, there is no Supernatural. So, unless Kripke is looking at something like 'The Days of Our After-Lives' I don't think we'll be seeing any lasting deaths of The Brothers Winchester.

According to an interview from BuddyTV with Sera Gamble, Ben Edlund and Exec-Producer Robert Singer, they're looking to turn this car around and head for more simpler times after this Apocalyptic journey is over. They want to get back to what the story has always been about, and that is, without a doubt, Sam and Dean. Well good news to everyone who's missed that weekly monster hunt with the "Who's that monster!", but the question that falls for all those who have followed the storyline is, what is the driving force?

Despite the easy going nature of the first season when compared to the fifth, there was always a driving force, a storyline underneath all that monster business, and that was to find John. That was the hook from the first episode, finding John. Where's John? So when the final boss is beaten what is left in terms of a storyline for the boys? How are you going to make this 'monster of the week' idea work? How are you going to make anything work without hurting the existing storyline and the integrity of it?

I feel that going on would make the intensity of the fifth season rather anti-climactic. You have this intense rising action, a dramatic climax, but then you deviate into a whole new storyline. They're saying that they best way is to start with a new story, but the last story was five years in the making. It was THEE story. I think that the idea of getting back to basics and focus on the boys is a great idea, but I can't see how it could be done without hurting the previous seasons, the previous story. It's not impossibly to make a sixth season, I just think it's impossible to do it without taking away from everything before it.

I love the boys and I love Supernatural and it would be great to see it go on, but when you want to consider the story it's telling, the story that was told, do you really think it can go on? I don't. And I would've had no problem with this being the end because it was a fantastic story. It was dramatic and funny and had all the right balance of elements and it looked, for a while, like it was building to a great ending. But now I'm not seeing how to bring an actual ending with a sixth season. I have this doubt growing in my gut that says this is going to become something ugly.

My Supernatural Soundtrack

My Supernatural Soundtrack
Brothers

Has there ever been a moment, maybe in passing, when you heard a song that maybe reminded you of one or both of our Winchesters? Maybe a particular episode, or a season or even the series itself? I know I have. Maybe it's that obsessive nature in me, where I cannot go without some how, some way or another, bringing everything back around to Supernatural. Some people think that's the case. I don't. or maybe I do.

Every now and again I come across a song that reminds me of SPN in someway or another. And every now and again I might share one or two, lyrics included, and occasionally an explanation. Sometimes I can't really explain.

Occasionally I'm going to throw up a song that doesn't look like it belongs in Supernatural at all, but that's okay because this is MY SPN Soundtrack.
===================

Now this first one, just kind of embodies the boys. The very, kind of essence, of Supernatural, and after Kansas' "Carry on Wayward Son" I'd say this should definitely be the un/official theme song to the series. Just read the lyrics and tell me you don't agree.

"Brothers of the Road" - The Allman Brothers' Band

Silent shadows of the night
Faded with the morning light
We just wrote another song
Maybe a word or two is wrong

There's so much that could be said
It's hard to write it in a line
But when the final word is read
Maybe something could be said

For all the brothers of the road
Just like you, we bear a heavy load
Been through hell and back again
If we don't lose we're bound to win

Somehow they gave it all a name
Just like a southern hurricane
We play our music like a storm
They say a brand new sound was born

We're all brothers of the road
Just like you, we bear a heavy load
Been through hell and back again
If we don't lose we're bound to win

Some of us fell along the way
We came together, not too proud to pray
But the music must go on
So there's no one left out there all alone

We're just brothers of the road
Casting shadows in the night
Big wheels rolling on and on
But everything's gonna be all right
================================

Sam and Dean are two brothers on the road and they do carry a heavy load, especially in the fourth and fifth season. The world practically rest on them. And along the way they've lost friends, family, other hunters: Ellen, Jo, their father. They lost Adam before they got to know him. But the music goes on. they go on. they pick up and continue.

The refrain and last two verses if they're not the life of a hunter, hell, then you tell me what is.

We're all brothers of the road
Just like you, we bear a heavy load
Been through hell and back again
If we don't lose we're bound to win

Some of us fell along the way
We came together, not too proud to pray
But the music must go on
So there's no one left out there all alone

We're just brothers of the road
Casting shadows in the night
Big wheels rolling on and on
But everything's gonna be all right

I think these definitely tell the story of the fourth and fifth season as well.

-We're all brothers of the road/ Just like you, we bear a heavy load
Brothers of the road. I think is pretty self explanatory. These boys live on the road. And they bear a heavy burden with the seals and the Apocalypse just around the corner. Not to mention the burdens they each feel individually. Dean is told he must stop the Apocalypse. Sam feels it is up to him to do this because Dean isn't strong enough. It's a tremendous weight.

-Through Hell and Back again
Dean has literally been through hell and Sam in his own right went through some form of it when Dean died.

-Some of us fell along the way
They've definitely lost people on this hellish journey. First their father. Then each other, though this was rectified in some way each time. They lost Ellen and Jo. Castiel was gone for a little while. Let's not forget Adam. He didn't do much, but he was the brother they found out they had too late to help him.

-But the music must go on/ So there's no one left out there all alone
But they keep on going, because there are people out there that need them, even if they don't know it. The millions of millions of people. And they can't just leave them.

-We're just brothers of the road/ Casting shadows in the night/ Big wheels rolling on and on/ But everything's gonna be all right
Like previously stated, they are literally brothers and practically live on the road. that can be a literal interpretation. No one knows, no one sees them. They're like shadows. that's all you see of them. In the Impala just going on, because they have to believe that in the end, everything is gonna be all right.

----------------------------------------

That's just my interpretation. my way of making it fit Supernatural. I think it's an excellent song.

Digital Spy interview with Misha Collins

DigitalSpy.com has an interview with everyone's favorite angel, Castiel (Misha Collins).

Misha Collins (Supernatural)
By Lara Martin, News Editor

The last time we visited the Supernatural world, all hell was about to break loose (literally). With Sam and Dean's dramatically deteriorating relationship, the betrayal of Ruby, the apparent obliteration of Castiel, not to mention the impending Apocalypse, it's safe to assume that the brothers and co. are in for a bumpy ride ahead. With the fifth season premiering on its new home of Living next week, we caught up with Misha Collins - aka Castiel - to chat about sibling rivalry, megalomaniac angels and Miley Cyrus...

The last time we saw Castiel he was in a very sticky situation - yet, he manages to survive! What happened?
"I don't know if he did survive. He definitely dies and then comes back to life again so I guess that is a form of survival. He's obliterated by an archangel and is then reconstituted and resurrected but it's still a bit of a mystery who did that. Castiel thinks it was God which might be a bit of a megalomaniac position to take - I'm back because God brought me back! - but that's what he thinks!"

Has he lost his powers?
"No - a couple don't function as well as they used to. He has a harder time killing demons, and time travel really takes the wind out of his tails but he teleports with the best of them still!"

Will he ever get back to his full strength?
"He is now not in heaven's favour, he is hunted by the other angels and cut off from heaven's power so that means that the powers he has have to be powers that he as an individual can demonstrate and not things he would need to rely on the power of heaven to do. Its not entirely clear where that line is drawn. He's definitely weaker than he was before but he's certainly still one of the best weapons that Sam and Dean have in their arsenal."

Is Castiel angry at Sam and Dean for triggering the apocalypse?
"I think at the beginning of the season he is angry because he basically sacrificed his life and died in order to help them stop the apocalypse and they blew it! He is pissed at them but he can't be too high and mighty because he helped trigger it too. No one is without fault or reproach in Supernatural. Everyone is a bit of a fuck-up!"

What's his relationship with Sam like this season?
"It's contentious at the beginning because I think Castiel puts a lot of the blame of the apocalypse on Sam. But, in the episode we're shooting right now, Cass makes a pretty big sacrifice and chooses to save Sam rather than maybe do what is most strategically successful towards heading off the competition between heaven and hell. He calls him his friend, it's a very touching moment!"

It seemed like the brothers were heading to a massive showdown last season. How is their relationship now?
"I think there are two big showdowns looming. One is between the brothers and the other is between Michael and Lucifer who plan to occupy their bodies and use them as vessels. The big conflict between the two brothers is resolved more or less early in the season. They separate and go their separate ways and stop hunting together but they do come back together after a couple of episodes."

What's Lucifer's overall plan then?
"He wants to fight the archangel Michael and bring his armies of hell and humans into full conflict with armies of heaven in a final battle for earth. Whatever side is victorious will be the side to dominate earth from that point forward. Sam, Dean, Bobby and Castiel are working to stop this final conflict from happening and the war from breaking out full scale, but there are skirmishes being fought all over the place as the apocalypse begins to unfold. We haven't broken out into full scale conflict, but in the interim there are wars of extension being fought."

One thing fans are desperate to know is whether God will ever appear - what are your thoughts?
"I don't know but I have heard rumours that God will appear. I have no idea what form God would take, whether they would just do a booming voice or whether they would do something else. They could cast any number of odd characters for the role of God. I'm lobbying for Miley Cyrus!"

Well you got Paris Hilton this season so it's not impossible...
"Yes, that's right! Paris Hilton could be recurring as God! That would be great!"

What do you hope is in the future for Castiel?
"I would love to see him become more human and ultimately much less of an angel. I think that would be a good arc for him to travel. That would be one really interesting avenue to go down - another would be for him to become evil and a nemesis to Sam and Dean. Who knows? He could become Bobby's lover! There's a lot that could happen to Castiel."

Supernatural News Update

Supernatural News UPdate
A Miscellaneous News Update.

More Sixth Season Speculation.
Our buddy Ausiello over at EW.com gives us a definite 'a sure thing' regarding the sixth season of Supernatural. Exciting right? Right. But isn't it enough with the speculation already? Sure we get it. Supernatural, definitely getting a sixth season. But instead of constantly posting speculations can we finally just sit back and wait for the confirmation from The CW? I'm a lover of the show- obsesser, even- but I'm tired of reading speculation, so let's just wait for the real thing.

Casting Spoiler
Not always the reliable source, but IMDB.com gives us a little casting spoiler for episode 5.16 'Dark Side of the Moon'. It would appear that the ever talented Traci Dinwiddie will be reprising her role as everyone's favorite psychic, Pamela Barnes.
(Whatever happened to Missouri?)

Back in January our most recent and awkwardly helpful demon, Crowley, or rather his actor Mark Sheppard, tweeted to all us fans that he was going to be returning to the show. For fans of this very Good Omens-esque Crowley, we have a few more specifics thanks to Maureen Ryan, The Watcher, over at the Chicago Tribune. Our good buddy Crowley, if there was ever that kind of demon, is slated to appear in episode 20(101) of season 5-- "and don't be surprised if Crowley is around for more than one episode."
I feel a little tingly.

DigitalSpy.com brings us a cast spoiler. For fans of the show EastEnders prepare for a treat. EE actor Adam Croasdell is on board for a future episode in which the 29-year-old actor will be playing Baldr(Baldur, Balder), the Norse god of light.

Outside Supernatural
Curious about what the Boys Jackles are doing outside of Supernatural in their professional lives? Well ladies and Gentlemen, fanboys and fangirls, the Los Angeles Times tells us our ghost busting hottie Jensen Ackles will be lending that sweet voice to the likes of Bruce Timm and Brandon Vietti in the upcoming animated feature and newest installment in Batman, Batman: Under the Red Hood as a title character the Red Hood.
Written by Judd Winick, this installment is based on his 2005 Batman Comic storyline. In this Batman will be facing up to another vigilante, Red Hood, who doesn't seem to mind racking up the body count. This "violent look into the crime on the streets" will be executive produced by Bruce Timm and directed by Superman Doomsday co-director Brandon Vietti.
Ackles will be joining the voice talents of Bruce Greenwood, Neil Patrick Harris, John DiMaggio and Jason Isaacs.

Cast and Crew
Kevin Parks, second unit and assistant director, is joining The Ride to Conquer Cancer in honor of the late, great Kim Manners as well as the many family, friends and co-workers impacted by this disease. The Ride to Conquer Cancer is two-days cycling from Vancouver to Seattle and takes place in June. If you wish to support him visit his page: Kevin Parks.

and finally...
A Word from Our Boys
It's no secret that there are people out there who'd love to take advantage of our dedication and admiration for the Boys Jackles on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Well, they just want you to know that it's not them. Keep it in mind when that guy you're talking to says he's Jared or Jensen.

We're sure they'd be ever grateful if you'd pass the message along.

The Siren's Call: Interview with JIM PARRACK

From the 13th issue of Supernatural Magazine

Supernatural Villain Edition: The Siren's Call
Interview with JIM PARRACK
By Bryan Cairns

Official Supernatural Magazine: So how familiar were you with Supernatural before landing the role of Agent Nick Monroe?
JIM PARRACK: I had actually never watched it, but I live close to the Warner Bros. lot so I had seen signs for it. One of the writers {Raelle Tucker} for the show I'm a regular on, True Blood, had written for it. I had definitely heard of it, though.

OSM: How was Nick described to you, and did they initially spell out that he was this treacherous Siren?
JP: I knew during the audition process, because part of the sides {script pages use for auditioning - Ed} were for scenes after that was revealed. I believe it was in the car and then another was with the two brothers at the end. He was originally described as an FBI Agent and that weird things started happening around him.

OSM: What did you like about the way Nick was introduced to the boys?
JP: I liked that there was a red herring. I remember telling the director that if I treated the doctor suspiciously and was there to investigate her, it might help throw the viewers off. I don't know if that came off, but i thought it was a good opportunity to get everyone, including Sam and Dean, to feel that way.

OSM: As an actor, was it difficult playing Nick as this human without tipping off the fact that he was actually evil?
JP: No, not really, because it seemed the only time the creature didn't have human characteristics or drive was visually. It seemed to act the way people do. Psychologically, it was normal in that it needed to be loved and people loyal to it. Those emotions are human, so the eternal monster appearance was the only otherworldly aspect of it, and special effects takes care of that. On the inside, the thing operated the same as everyone else. It was pretty easy to think it made sense to see what kind of person somebody would love and then show that to them.

OSM: Speaking of presenting your heart's desire, how was that bonding moment between Nick and Dean?
JP: I liked it, and I like Jensen Ackles a lot. He grew up one town over from me in Texas. I enjoyed sitting back, knocking back fake drinks, and telling stories. It was easy hanging out and having a nice time. I also liked the idea of playing this game of, "I'm confused. What could possibly be happening?" Then there was letting Dean know I liked him, was interest in music, and admired his car. It was fun because you knew where we were ultimately going.

OSM: It's interesting because the Siren could have just been a bloodthirsty, needy menace, but they made it deceptive and manipulative.
JP: Yeah, It could have been purely sensual, but if a creature like that had to deal with people, its instinct to receive isn't going to fly because of the way it looks. That's why it has to manipulate, and that doesn't happen anywhere else in nature. It could have been just a predatory sexual creature if it had been attractive enough that people would respond to it.

OSM: Once the brothers were enthralled and the Siren's true nature was revealed, did you approach Nick's mannerisms or speech pattern any differently?
JP: Yeah, at that point, I thought he should be ambiguously sexual. As the FBI Agent he was a guy's guy, but this creature wasn't a guy or a girl. I tried to find something in between and enjoyed having control over these boys in a sexual way. It's a strange way to describe it.

OSM: Considering the Siren initially appears as a female that seduced men, it was almost as if gender wasn't a factor for it.
JP: Right, which is really bizarre. There had to be some way to get that across without being ridiculous. When the brothers found out I was the Siren, I couldn't keep acting like a woman and it wouldn't have been real if I kept going as a man. I tried to find something almost neutral, but displaying some kind of sexual tension. It was weird, and I don't know how I came up with that.

OSM: How was the scene of the Siren spraying toxin into Sam's mouth done?
JP: The process was interesting. We did a couple of takes and one of them was from the side. A prop guy had a little squirt gun, which he held on the far side of my head so you could see it. There were a couple of times I had to look into the camera and open my mouth wide. They already had an idea of what they wanted to do with the special effects. I was impress how they put it all together, especially with shooting the actual liquid from the side and somehow making it look like it was coming from my mouth. There was lots of joking around about that particular shot.

OSM: We can imagine, since Jared and Jensen have such a famous sense of humor.
JP: They're really funny guys. There was a little concern that maybe the liquid was a color or shade that insinuated something inappropriate. They wanted to make it a little clearer than it was, so it didn't give the wrong impression. We certainly had a good time with that. I remember telling both those guys "I don't think my dad made a dollar this way!"

OSM: How did it feel not only to be that episode's spooky menace, but be pivotal in escalating that tension between Sam and Dean?
JP: That was pretty cool. Like I mentioned, I didn't know much about the show coming into it, but once I was there, director Charles Beeson gave me a couple of seasons to watch in my trailer. I really got into it, and going back to season two, you can see that conflict starting. I didn't realized I was part of something so significant. I don't know where it's gone since, but a good friend of mine {Katherine Boecher} had just gotten cast as Lilith, the demon they talk about throughout the season.

OSM: What kind of direction did Charles give you when you saw your nasty reflection in the mirror?
JP: I remember it being really technical, because they had to put in the other guy to invert the image. I remember thinking, "How does this thing deal with death if you're not a normal person?" Then it was like, "Am I being lazy saying it's a creature and it doesn't know what's going on?" I remember Charles didn't want it to be too emotional.

OSM: Did they give you any indication of what the Siren looked like, or did you have to wait until the episode aired like everyone else?
JP: No, I met the guy {who played the Siren} and I actually only got to meet him when he was in his Siren get up. It was cool. He came out, and needed some assistance walking because he had all that make-up on, and they just shot the mirror so it was actually his reflection. I had an idea of what he looked like, which was hideous and terrifying.

OSM: Would you have rather put up a fight than gotten a knife in the back?
JP: Absolutely, and that has a lot more to do with me. It makes sense to flee and get out of there to survive, but as an actor and a guy, I wish I had fought them. The thing's strength was more intellectual, but I would have rather done something other than run off!

OSM: You touched on working with Jensen, but how was acting opposite Jared Padalecki and Jim Beaver?
JP: I didn't work with Jim too much, but again, all those guys are from Texas, so we had that in common. I liked Jared a lot, too. I feel these are like guys I grew up with, so I felt very familiar and comfortable with t hem. Jared's a funny dude. I remember being particularly impressed when Jensen did this shot where he had to go over and get the axe after he knocked Jared down. They're so comfortable with each other, and Jared was on the ground making fart noises with his mouth and rolling around. Jensen did what he had to do and didn't respond. After we were done, I was like , "Damn, that's pretty good concentration." After four years, I guess you get good at it and are having a fun time with each other.

OSM: It seems there was a lot of on-location night shoots. Was this a tiring episode to do?
JP: Not really. For some reason, I prefer working at night. I just got married in October, so we got home at the beginning of November and by the beginning of December, I was in Canada. It was really Christmassy and wonderful, which made me really miss my wife. I felt very lonely the whole time I was there. I thought that was probably the motivating force of this creature, who was just trying to be loved.

OSM: Viewers probably recognize you as Hoyt from another supernatural drama, True Blood. Has that shows' success surprised you?
JP: Nooooo! Initially, I was concerned. When we were doing it, we all really liked the concept and believed in the series a lot. When It premiered, some of the reviews were terrible and people were taking shots at the creator, Alan Ball. By the end of the season, our viewership had gone up and the same critics were now saying it was one of the best shows on TV. It was amazing to win people over, but I"m not surprised because of the people involved. Just like with Supernatural, sci-fi and fantasy fans are very loyal and the coolest fans you can have.

OSM: Lastly, Sam and Dean vanquished your Siren, but how would they have fared against the vampires in True Blood?
JP: You know what? They'd be in trouble! Obviously, some vampires are nicer than others, but some are several thousand years old. As much as I like Sam and Dean, there are probably some vampires and creatures in True Blood that they'd have a tough time with!

Supernatural: A Sixth Season? Cont'd

Supernatural: A Sixth Season? Cont'd
Jumping the gun?

A little follow up on yesterday's blog. A friend of mine at www.supernaturalnet.net gave me a little article posted on coventrytelegraph.net in which David Bentley sat down with our favorite ghost hunting brothers back in June in Birmingham for Asylum 3, the UK's SPN convention and asked about their future in the show and afterward. Bentley doesn't hold back when asking about a sixth season. Ackles confirms that if there is a sixth season he is in, "I have to. I have a six-year contract." and the same goes for Padalecki, who follows up with the details that the show, in its fourth season, had the highest ratings they'd seen for it, and were still climbing- always a reassurance for a network.
Unfortunately some fans have taken the news that Jensen and Jared are signed on six year contracts as a confirmation of a sixth season, which is not the same thing. It simply means that if the sixth season is picked up, the boys are obligated to be in it if they're written into it. Though, Padalecki has confessed that if the show really does 'jump the shark' he will not go on.
So don't get ahead of yourself ladies and gentleman. The BOYS have six year contracts, not the show just yet. That article may be getting a little ahead of itself. Don't start partying just yet, save that confetti for the official CW confirmation.

Supernatural: A Sixth Season?

I'd like to tackle the subject of a sixth season.

There is tons of speculation and both 'yays' and 'nays' from fans on the idea of a sixth season. Some fans are worried, how does one top the Apocalypse? Other fans are just happy to see the Winchesters. The big questions is still really "Is there going to be a sixth season?" Kripke is by no means adverse to the idea of a sixth season despite all his plans to go out with a big bang and ending this Apocalyptic Arc with the fifth season.
“I did set out [to] tell a five-season storyline, quite frankly, I never expected [the show] to make it to five years. But now that we’re in our fifth year, I have every intention of ending the story with a bang and not drawing it out or watering it down.... That having been said, I’m looking at this season as the last chapter in this particular story. That doesn’t mean there can’t be a new story. Buffy did it. The X-Files did it. You close a chapter on a big mythology storyline and then you begin a new one." (EW.com)
The real issues isn't Kripke's willingness to go on to a new story, but rather a matter of being picked up for that sixth season and from the buzz around town, it doesn't seem like that's going to be a problems, according to Dawn Ostroff, “The ratings are up, we have more young women coming to the show than ever before. There aren’t a lot of shows that you can say are doing better in their fifth year.”(Sixth Season or Bust?, EW.com)
Not to mention this thrilling little update from SpoilerTV.com: "Apparently THE CW is deep in contracts negotiations and is finalizing the paperwork for renewing :
Gossip Girl ,90210 ,Smallville ,Supernatural , ANTM and The Vampire Diaries for next season.
Expect official renewal annoucements for the above shows later this month." (SpoilerTV.com
All we're waiting for now, it would seem, is for The CW to confirm it.

Kripke, who has given hints of interest in a sixth season, despite all previous claims that he's working on a five year plan, has not hinted at any real ideas for a sixth season, which leaves some fans worrying; what could The Kripkeeper be up to? A suggestion made was the extension of the storyline of the fifth season, but Kripke has every intention on wrapping up the Apocalypse with the end of the fifth season. So what's next?
SN502_D2745b If there’s a sixth season, how do you top the apocalypse?
"Well, the trick is to not go big but go intimate – at least those are the initial conversations we’ve had [if the show is picked up for a sixth season]. We always set up this five-year storyline, because in my heart of hearts, I just never imagine we’d actually go five years, much less beyond. We are going to climax the storyline and really wrap up the story of Satan and Michael and the apocalypse. The big question is, how do you follow that? We look at this as a unique challenge but also an opportunity to really launch a new storyline next year. We’re almost looking at it as the sequel to a movie. Rather than as a lot of genre shows do as they get on in years, becoming so convoluted and almost collapsing under their own mythology and getting to the point where you just can’t follow any of it anymore, we’re really looking forward to the opportunity of just sweeping it all clean and starting over with something else. We talk about returning to a stripped-down version of the show that’s almost similar to season one, in which the mythology was just as simple as finding their father and finding something that’s really personal and meaningful to Sam and Dean. One of the things that’s hard about the end of the world is sometimes it’s hard to have your characters emotionally connect with it, because it’s so big. But if their emotional storyline for, say, season six is to save a loved one, then that’s something you can really understand and get behind and actually have some really emotional storytelling that takes you through a lot of the scary episodes."(Interview with Eric Kripke, USA Weekend)
But what about our boys? Will they have a role in this new adventure? The Destiny decided for The Brothers Winchester is that one must fight the other. Will they survive? Kripke doesn't say but I think this all but gives it away:
So you think about what you’ll do in the next season — how about who you’ll do it with? We don’t know yet if Sam and Dean will survive the end of the world. Are they in your plans? "Oh, absolutely. The one thing I can say is there's no Supernatural without Sam and Dean. If they’re not driving the bus, then I’m not sure there’s a bus to drive. Maybe they’ll survive this year and maybe they won’t, but we’re at the point where, hilariously, death on our show for our main characters has now basically become an inconvenience. [Laughs] Even if they don’t survive, they’ll certainly be back for a season six. I just don’t know how to tell this story without Sam and Dean." (Interview with Eric Kripke, USA Weekend)
So, whether our climactic battle ends bloody or not, if there is a sixth season there are going to be Winchesters. And from the looks of it, We'll be seeing them again soon.

What do YOU foresee in our boys futures?
